چکیده

Determined systematic differences in the overall shapes of successive 11-year modulation cycles (1946–1995) and similarities in the shapes of alternate 11-year cycles seem to be related to the 22-year magnetic cycle and to the polarity reversals of the polar magnetic field of the Sun. This different behaviour of the odd and even solar cycles that are the two parts of the 22-year periodicity is discussed in terms of different processes influencing the transport of cosmic rays from the edges of the heliosphere to the near-Earth region. Taking into account these characteristic features, monthly cosmic-ray data from Inuvik and Climax Neutron Monitor Stations have been used to describe on a general basis the long-term modulation of galactic cosmic-rays during the last three solar cycles (1965–1994) where data are available. With the aid of appropriate selected source functions and calculating the time lag of cosmic-ray intensity against these indices, themodulated cosmic-ray intensity has been simulated with an approximation of 10% during this period. The hysteresis curves applied to the observedmodulated as well as to the calculated cosmic-ray intensities with the expected differences between even and odd solar cycles confirm the good approximation of our generalised model. This is derived by the generalisation of Simpson’s solar windmodel using the diffusion-convection theory.

Long Term Average Observation of First Two Harmonics of Cosmic Ray Daily Variation

Cosmic ray daily variation is directly related with changes in interplanetary conditions. The significant and systematic deviations in the amplitude and phase of the diurnal, semi-diurnal variation of cosmic rays from the average values is due to strong geomagnetic and solar activity. The amplitudes and phases (time of maxima) of first two harmonics of cosmic ray daily variation show 11/22 year...

Neutron Monitor Response Functions

The neutron monitor provides continuous ground-based recording of the hadronic component in atmospheric secondary radiation which is related to primary cosmic rays. Simpson (1948) discovered that the latitude variation of the secondary hadronic component was considerably larger than the muon component suggesting the response of a neutron monitor is more sensitive to lower energies in the primar...

The Status of Cross Section Measurements for Neutron-induced Reactions Needed for Cosmic Ray

Introduction: Cosmic ray interactions with lunar rocks and meteorites produce small amounts of radio-nuclides and stable isotopes. Advances in Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) allow production rates to be measured routinely in well-documented lunar rocks and meteorites. These measurements are analyzed using theoretical models to learn about the object itself and the history of the cosmic ray...

A study on the lateral distribution of Cherenkov light in extensive air showers

The dependence of the lateral distribution of Cherenkov light in simulated extensive air showers to the energy and the mass of the primary cosmic rays has been studied. It has been shown that a previous claim about mass independent proportionality of shower energy to the total Cherenkov photon number is not valid in energies below EEAS ~ 1014 eV. We have found that the core distance of the so c...

سطح مقطع طولی در بهمن‌های گسترده هوایی؛ نتایج ضمنی برای مطالعه ترکیب جرمی پرتوهای کیهانی

Nµ/Ne, muon to electron population ratio in extensive air showers at high altitudes has been shown to be a suitable estimator of primary cosmic rays mass composition. This study is based on simulated extensive air showers. The Nµ/Ne ratio has been obtained in 100 depths from the top of the atmosphere to the sea level for different primary particle masses and energies. An empirical relation bet...
